Public Art Projects

Tallahassee Downtown has participated in over 17 art projects since 2018. It has been a collaborative effort to provide paid opportunities to artists, cultivate art patrons from our business community, and establish ourselves as the cultural capital of Florida. 

We have made sharing inclusive stories a priority and therefore had the opportunity to work with amazing artists, grantors, and businesses. Over the past few years, these 17 projects have brought together well over 31 volunteer and philanthropic partners and paid over 66 artists in our community. This has created significant economic development not just in ensuring the creative class has properly paid gigs in our community, but creating a walkable area of cultural interest that captivates visitors and locals alike- the more time people spend in an area, the more revenue for downtown businesses. It revitalizes blighted or vandalised areas creating safer public spaces and enhancing a sense of pride for the community. The benefits are beautiful! 

While public art can be a big undertaking, with the right partners in place and a clearly defined concept at hand- we have transformed many of the vandalized, derelict spaces into a vibrant, safer, more beautiful part of our community.
